Warm up your Wedding with a Fire Pit
Turn up the Heat: Warm up your Wedding with a Fire Pit
One of the best things about having a wedding at a venue with outdoor space is the potential for including great outdoor activities during your wedding reception, not to mention a chance to celebrate under the stars. A fire pit is a perfect way to create a cozy and inviting seating area where guests can relax after a long day of festivities.
Whether it’s a big bonfire or a small blaze in a stylish brazier, there’s just nothing quite like a crackling fire to make your friends and family feel warm and cozy at your wedding reception. Talk to your venue coordinator about how you can incorporate a fire pit at your wedding– they should have an idea of what is needed for safety, fuel and seating. If they don’t have seating to provide, there are lots of ways to supply your own. One of the simplest ways to create seats (which works perfectly for a rustic or country themed wedding) is to cut some large, sturdy logs and place them in a circle around the fire. You may also be able to rent appropriate seating or bring a selection of lawn chairs.
Once you’ve got all of the logistics figured out, all that’s left is to add a splash of fun. Sitting by the fire is enjoyable enough on its own, but here are a few ways to make your wedding bonfire extra special:
- S’mores – What’s a fire without roasted marshmallows? Create a s’more bar near your fire pit or prepare small bags with a marshmallow, a piece of chocolate and two graham crackers for guests – these can even be placed at each place setting as favors for guests to enjoy later in the evening.
- Singalong – Have a family member or friend arrange to bring their guitar and initiate a sing-along by the fire. Nights spent singing campfire songs are not soon forgotten!
- Winter Weddings – Who says fire pits have to be reserved for summer nights? A fire pit can be equally as inviting on a chilly winter evening! It can be a great place for the gentleman to celebrate with a cigar, or to snuggle up with a blanket and a mug of hot cocoa.
Do these ideas have you dreaming of a fire pit at your wedding? Talk to the team here at Heartland Meadows– we would love to bring that vision to life.
